Exam policies
Purpose
These Exam policies exist to protect the integrity, validity, and market value of Gameplan certifications, and to ensure a consistent, fair candidate experience across schools, districts, third-party partners, and independent learners.
Scope
These policies applies to:
all candidates sitting any Gameplan certification exam,
all exam proctors (including in-person and virtual proctors),
all organisations hosting or facilitating proctored exam sessions on Gameplan (schools, districts, partners, and other exam sites).
Exam scoring
Exams are scored by Gameplan
Results are reported as Pass/Fail
Gameplan may withhold or invalidate results if integrity is in question
Certificate issuance and verification
Test candidates who pass may download a certificate from Gameplan.
Gameplan may revoke a certificate if later evidence shows the exam result was obtained through misconduct.
Each certificate has a unique identification number at the bottom which can be used to construct a verification url (https://app.gameplan.com/certifications/verify/UNIQUE_IDENTIFICATION_NUMBER)
Complaints
Complaints about exam administration, proctor conduct, candidate treatment, accessibility, or certification/credential misuse may be submitted to certifications@gameplan.com.
Please include your contact details, the exam/certification involved, the date/session (if applicable), a description of the issue, and any supporting evidence.
Gameplan will acknowledge and review complaints, may request additional information, and may take appropriate action. To protect privacy and exam security, Gameplan may limit details shared about outcomes involving other individuals. Your complaint will be documented and reviewed within 30 days.
Test Candidate Policy
All Test Candidates are required to comply with these policies and procedures when taking the exam. Proctors are responsible for ensuring that all policies and procedures are strictly enforced
Candidate eligibility
Candidates must use their real identity and only take exams for themselves.
Candidates must present identification as required by the proctoring format:
In-person: school ID and/or government ID (as required by the proctor’s local rules).
Remote: identification/identity verification must be completed in accordance with the proctoring method and applicable school/district/program rules (which may require government-issued photo ID shown on camera).
If identity cannot be verified, the proctor must deny the candidate entry to the exam session.
If a candidate arrives more than 30 minutes late for their scheduled exam, they will not be admitted and must reschedule their exam.
Candidates under 18 years of age are required to provide signed parent or legal guardian consent before being admitted to an exam session, unless the hosting school, district, or partner confirms that valid consent has already been obtained under its own policies and applicable law. If required consent cannot be verified at check-in, the proctor must deny entry to the exam session and the candidate must reschedule.
Confidentiality and nondisclosure
Candidates must not:
record, copy, photograph, screen-capture, or reproduce exam content,
share questions/answers verbally, in writing, or online,
request help from any person or tool not explicitly allowed.
Testing environment rules
Candidates must:
test in a quiet setting with minimal distractions,
keep their screen and workspace clear of unauthorized materials,
follow all proctor instructions immediately.
Prohibited items and assistance
Unless explicitly approved as an accommodation or listed as allowed materials for that specific exam, candidates may not use:
phones, smartwatches, second computers, or other communication devices,
notes, textbooks, printed materials, or internet search,
any person, chat, screen-share support, or AI assistance.
Resuming exams
In case of technical difficulties (computer crashing, internet issues, software issues, etc.) the test candidate may resume their exam during the exam session. The exam proctor must be notified and oversee the resuming. In case of an unforeseen event (fire, power outage, etc) the exam proctor may pause the exam session and resume it at a later time. You cannot access any exam questions while a session is paused.
Challenging an exam question
Gameplan maintains a formal process allowing candidates to report potentially inaccurate or unclear exam questions.
Challenges must be submitted within 14 days
Gameplan reviews the item for validity and fairness; outcomes may include no change, item adjustment for future forms, or score adjustments if warranted.
Email challenge to certifications@gameplan.com
Accommodations
Gameplan is committed to providing reasonable accommodations for test candidates with documented disabilities, on an individual, case-by-case basis
Requests should be made at least 10 business days before the planned session
Accommodations may include extended time, modified environment, or other adjustments as appropriate.
Approved accommodations must be communicated to the proctor before the session begins.
Test candidates must provide current documentation describing the disability, functional limitations, and rationale for the accommodation requested
Email accommodation requests to certifications@gameplan.com
Retake policy
A candidate may retake an exam after an unsuccessful attempt, using a valid voucher
The waiting period between exam attempts varies depending on the specific certification, but it is typically several days. Gameplan may shorten this waiting period if an attempt is invalidated due to a testing irregularity that is not the result of student misconduct
Retakes must always occur in a new exam session when proctoring is required
Voucher usage
Vouchers may include retakes depending on the certification
Vouchers are limited to a specific certification and may have an expiration date depending on the certification
Non-transferability and misuse
Vouchers must not be sold, shared, or transferred unless explicitly permitted by Gameplan
Misuse may result in voucher invalidation and/or test candidate sanctions
Proctor policy
Authorized Proctors
Only Gameplan-authorized proctors may proctor exams that require proctoring to protect the integrity of Gameplan certifications.
Any teacher/administrator with a Gameplan account may apply to become an authorized proctor.
Proctors must agree to proctor guidelines and confirm they have reviewed required training materials (for example, an instructional video).
Proctor responsibilities
A proctor must:
Maintain a secure testing environment
Verify candidate identity
Approve/deny candidates before they start
Actively monitor attempts, document and report suspected misconduct
Enforce these policies consistently
A proctor must not:
Proctor the written exam for candidates to whom they provide direct instruction, except where permitted by applicable state/program rules and required safeguards are in place.
Help test candidates with any exam questions
Proctor Authorization
Proctors must complete all required training and any required test security or administration acknowledgments before they are authorized to administer or monitor exams. By serving as a proctor, the individual confirms they have read, understood, and agree to follow all applicable exam administration, security, and reporting rules.
Direct Instructor Restriction (State/Program Exceptions)
As a general rule, a proctor must not proctor a written exam for candidates to whom they provide direct instruction. Where applicable law, district policy, or program rules allow a limited exception, the proctor and testing site must follow all required conditions. For example, where Florida CAPE/FCAPE rules apply, a direct instructor may proctor only where permitted under those rules, and written exams must be independently monitored as required (including by a second eligible individual who does not provide direct instruction, where required).
Exam delivery and security monitoring
Gameplan may use exam-security analytics to detect and investigate irregular behavior such as unusual answer timing/latency patterns, atypical retake patterns, copying questions, pasting answers, or other anomalies. These signals can trigger review, score invalidation, or sanctions (see “Cheating and misconduct policy”). Proctors do not get access to any exam content before the exam session.
Timing rules
Each certification exam has a set time limit for completing all questions. If the exam is not submitted before time expires, it will be automatically submitted and closed to further answers.
Each exam session has a proctor-defined start and end time and within that time the proctor procedures happen like identifying test candidates
Interruptions and breaks
Breaks are not permitted unless explicitly allowed for the exam or granted as an accommodation.
Starting an exam session
A proctor creates a session and receives a unique exam session code.
The proctor sets:
session start time
session end time
The proctor shares the session code with candidates
Candidate check-in and approval
Candidates enter their voucher code and exam session code (or select the session if available to them).
Candidates wait for proctor approval.
The proctor verifies identity and either approves or rejects each candidate.
Once approved, candidates may begin their exam attempt and will have the allotted time to complete it.
Monitoring during the session
Proctors monitor active attempts and review post-session data.
Gameplan may surface “cheating indicators” (examples: tab switching, copy/paste attempts, unusual answer timing).
Remote proctoring
Remote proctoring is allowed and requires additional rules.
It is required that the test candidate;
Have a web camera on during the entire session
Be clearly visible on the web camera during the entire session and be focused on the screen
Identify themselves by showing government issued identification
State/District-Specific Requirements (where applicable)
Florida CAPE/FCAPE Requirements (where applicable)
For Florida CAPE/FCAPE administrations, teachers, proctors, and monitors must complete required training and annually sign the applicable Florida Test Administration & Security Agreement form (including FCAPE-03, and FCAPEA-03 where applicable) before administering or monitoring exams. The hosting school/district is responsible for maintaining required training records and rosters, including signed documents, for at least five (5) years.
Testing violations must be handled and reported in accordance with district and Florida Department of Education (FDOE) procedures, including use of FCAPE-04 where applicable. Required notifications to the Department and the certifying agency must be made within five (5) business days, unless the certifying agency imposes a more stringent reporting deadline.
Cheating and misconduct policy
What counts as misconduct
Examples include:
Using unauthorized materials or devices
Receiving help from another person
Copying/recording/sharing exam content
Impersonation or attempting to take an exam for someone else
Disrupting the test environment or refusing proctor instructions
Proctor actions
Proctors may:
Warn the candidate
End the attempt immediately
Remove the candidate from the session
Document the incident and report it to Gameplan
Gameplan actions
Gameplan may:
Invalidate an attempt or score
Require a retest
Suspend or ban a candidate account from future testing
Revoke certifications previously awarded
Florida K-12 Student Conduct and Incident Reporting (where applicable)
Where Florida CAPE/FCAPE rules apply, the hosting school/district must maintain local policies and procedures to review student conduct during and after exam administrations when conduct may violate certifying agency test administration requirements or jeopardize exam integrity. If the district determines a student violated these conduct provisions, the student must be prohibited from testing on any industry certification or certificate for a minimum of six (6) months.
If the district determines that the student conduct jeopardized the integrity of the exam beyond the scope of the student’s own performance, the district must complete FCAPE-04 and report the incident to the Florida Department of Education for review, in accordance with applicable district/FDOE procedures.
